Only people living a mile away from their nearest neighbor can use a 7.1 sound system's to its full potential without risking a visit from the police. A gaming headset is a far more practical choice that offers an even more intimate audio experience for a fraction of a price. High-end headsets supporting virtual 7.1 surround sound typically...

lightbeam

Mozilla has announced a new add-on for Firefox called Lightbeam that allows users to see exactly how they are being tracked while they surf the Web. The add-on works by recording what websites you visit and what third-parties are connected to those websites, and then displaying that information in a visually appealing and digestible format. Lightbeam offers three modes for visualizing this information: graph, clock, and list. vine-poll

Last week we asked you if you’re using a third-party firewall on your computer. In the day and age of built-in firewalls, you’d think we’d get a clear-cut answer. Not so. Out of 427 votes in total, 2% use a third-party firewall but don’t think it’s actually necessary, 10% don’t use a firewall but think they probably should, 40% don’t use a third-party firewall, and 48% of the voters use a third-party firewall on their computer. Full results and this week’s poll after the jump. Don’t forget to check out last week’s best comment by Keefe K, who gives a...
